One aspect of my work involves developing websites for my clients, for which me and my team spend hours on the Internet looking up and shortlisting WordPress themes.
Looking at all the delicious looking themes, and spending all this time developing beautiful websites for clients has been tempting me to get my own website for ages. Finally today I took the step and shortlisted a theme for myself, with my developer Arsalan’s help. Arsalan also spent time and effort developing my website on the company’s webserver, and helped me to finalize a domain name (URL) for my new blog – which I will be forever indebted to him for.
In one or two days, I will pay the hosting company the fees to be able to launch the website. However, Arsalan and I will not be making the website live immediately. He suggested that I should wait until I have at least 10-15 posts to put up there. It makes sense – what is the point of starting a website with nothing on it, after all? This means that it will be at least two weeks before you can see a website.
Till the website goes live, there will be no new posts here. All of them will be saved up and posted on the big day itself. The address of this page will also not redirect to the new website – since I really don’t want to fork out USD 12 every year for that. For SEO reasons, the content of this blog will also not be transferred there.
I hope my readers follow me there too. The URL will be shared as soon as I managed to buy the domain I have my eyes on

This blog has already been indexed by Google, and it appears in Google search results when you Google my name. Even if I delete it, the content will still remain with Google. If I transfer the content to another website, there will be two websites with identical content…Google will consider the content plagiarized and reject the new website, which means it wont appear in Google search results.

the URL will be sufiazamir.com, trying to figure out a way to get my posts there and not mess up the SEO…dont have the heart to abandon them 
if i do that, i can get the site up sooner

would you be kindenff sufia to let me know, How much it costs to move to one own website and what other charges would I be incurring…
Also, I suggest you keep updating this blog with progress on your website… At least your curious fans (eg me and narendra from India) shall be keeeping track

about the cost….it depends on how u want to go about it. one cost u absolutely have to incur is the cost of the domain hosting. the company i went for are charging me 3200 PKR/year (1600 INR, thank you narendra) for the domain name. with that i get 300 GB of hosting space, 3000 GB of mthly transfer and unlimited email acocunts. this is one cost u cant avoid.
after that, if you want a WP theme (which i preferred, since i get the same backend that i would here), you can either buy or download for free (i got a free one, im a desi, were famous for our kanjoosi, after all). the price differs acc to the theme and/or where u buy it from. if u want yr blog designed by a professional designer, theres additional cost with that..i didnt go with design, just got a ready made theme, so there was zero cost for that.
after i got the theme, u can enlist the help of a developer to help u set it up..arsalan did it for free for me
WP.com charges u 12 USD/year to redirect to your new site..which means if someone enters rrajiv.wordpress.com in their browser, they would be taken to rajivswebsite.com instead….u can skip that if u want to (which i did)
